Tobacco:  Obviously, the plant from which cigars are rolled or manufactured.  The best cigars are hand rolled from prime, hand picked leaves.  Tobacco is usually happiest at about 68 degrees Fahrenheit, and about 70% humidity.  If you don't have a humidor then an entirety practical way of storing quality cigars is in an air tight zip lock bag.  Do not refrigerate.

Wrapper: The very thin highly elastic piece of tobacco that is specially grown for the purpose of being stretched around a finished cigar to give it a handsome, finished appearance.  Look for a wrapper that is smooth and even, without cracks or splits.  The best Cuban and other premium models have a rich, smooth looking wrapper.  A darker version of the wrapper, using tobacco which is aged longer and is richer in appearance and taste is called maduro.

Binder: A rough strong layer of tobacco immediately beneath the wrapper.  This heavy duty tobacco layer is used to bind the cigar together and give it its characteristic shape.

Filler: A blend of different types of tobacco which are carefully selected to produce the desired flavor.  The various leaves in the filler are rolled into a cylindrical bunch around which the binder is carefully wrapped.

Ring Size: Cigars are measured in 64s of an inch across their diameter.  Therefore a cigar with a ring size if 64 would be exactly 1 inch in diameter, and a ring size of 32 would be one half inch in diameter. In general, I find that the larger ring sizes burn smoother and more evenly than those that are thinner.  Of course, as with most other things, preferences in cigar shape and size is all a matter of personal taste.

Length: Length. In inches.
